Welcome to Hazlehurst. As your mayor, I want to take the opportunity to say that I am glad to have you here whether you are a visitor or a resident. I am proud of our city and look forward to its growth.

Like many people who live in Hazlehurst, I find pleasure in watching new developments. Since Hazlehurst was added to the Mississippi Blues Trail in 2006, we should see more tourists around town by the summer of 2007.

During my term in office, I plan to build on the positive momentum. I'm working to bring in more industry and to grow tourism. One of my goals is to honor the Robert Johnson legacy. I am working with the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation to insure that Hazlehurst is known for being Robert Johnson's birthplace. To date, I've been instrumental in adding the Robert Johnson Center to the Depot, providing the Foundation with workspace in Heritage House, and bringing the Robert Johnson Blues Festival to our city.
