Hunting & Fishing

Residents under 16 years of age or over 65 are required to have a license.  Other residents who fish in public waters must purchase annually, price depending on game and weapon.  Combination hunting and fishing licenses are also available as well as Sportsman license which includes primitive weapons.  It is a plastic license card that will be replace at no cost if lost.  Annual renewal applications are sent to these cardholders.  The only additional permits would be duck stamps with the license.
 
 
Boating
 
All sailboats and boats using motors must be registered with the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks

The fee is based on the length of the boat.

 
Automobile Inspection
 
Inspection is required by the state on all automobiles.  There are many inspection stations (most garages and service stations) throughout the area and the yearly cost is $5.00 per vehicle.
 
 
Automobile Tags
 
Mississippi law states that new residents must purchase an automobile tag within 30 days after moving into the state.  New vehicle purchase requires purchase of tag within 7 working days of purchase. Tags are available at the

Marriage License
 
The Circuit Clerk’s Office in Copiah County issues marriage licenses. Proof of birth and results of blood test taken within the last 30 days are required. There is a three-day waiting period.
